Do i need to pay the 20% charge

Hello,

In November 2016 I bought a laptop from Very but 4 months later it stopped working. Following 6 months of arguing and a cheque for £250 for poor customer service i agreed to send my laptop for repair.

Now 6 months later my laptops broke again with the same issues but after seeking out an approved engineer he confirmed it would be too expensive to repair.

I have contacted very who agreed to refund the £500 but minus a 20% charge.

I am just wondering do i need to pay because my initial complaint was within the first 6 months and also it's only been 6 months since the previous repair.

Thanks
Lee

so they give you £250 then you get the laptop as well

now 6 months on you are offered the £500 less 20% (which in fact would be wear and tear value) and asking if you should accept it

I am just trying to ascertain if a fault happens within the first 6 months and the repair fails all be it 6 months later do i have to pay a charge. I understand if within the first 6 months a person doesn't have to but it's not clear what happens if a repair is agreed but fails?
Also the amount of stress they caused me over this thing they had to be forced by financial services to pay.

Yes, they are entitled to deduct an amount to take into account the use you have had from the product since buying it.

20% off a (fairly cheap) laptop seems reasonable for about a years use.

So they are offering you £400 back? £500 - 20%?

And they have also given you £250?

You are in fact £150 up, so yeah take that offer before they change their mind!

They are not making you pay a charge, they are reducing the refund to allow for the use you have had from the laptop. They are allowed to do this
