Sometimes they will have a witness statement for the letter being posted but as has been said its unlikely they will have anything.

As for them not turning up on the day they first stated, unless its special circumstances most companies will give you no warning at all as to when they are coming, its annoying they gave you the wrong date but unfortunately I don't think it's an argument you're likely to win.
