Marbles (HFC) taking too long on PPI decision

Hi everyone
I'm not sure if there's even anything I can do about this but here's what's happening.
Early last year I contacted Marbles about a PPI claim, I was completely mis-sold it. Anyway, they said it was too long ago so they couldn't do anything. But back in November they contacted me (24th November) saying things had changed and they're processing my claim and to expect a decision within 8 weeks. 8 weeks came and went and I got another letter on 22 January appologising for the delay (Due to the complex nature of your complaint, we've not yet finalised our reviewof your complaint) and they expect to write to me with a final decision within the next 8 weeks (making it 16 weeks!!).
As you can guess, the 2nd 8 weeks came and went, I've called multiple times to ask what the hell is going on but now it's 13 weeks after the 2nd deadline with not even a "We're sorry for the delay" letter.
I've contacted the Financial Ombudsman about Marbles's conduct but they can't do anything without me creating a completely fresh claim for the same PPI and then it could take up to something like 6 months to process.
It seems like Marbles know this and just don't care about getting anything processed.
Is there anything that can be done? I'm even considering mentioning going to the press about it to push them a little.
Any ideas? Is this kind of the norm for Marbles and PPI claims? Am I just one of many going through this?
Thanks guys
Daz

It just sounds as if your (rejected) PPI complaint is now being considered for a Plevin refund. Many people are still waiting for that (from different banks). There is simply a mountain of cases to work through.
You cannot make another PPI complaint because your original one has already been considered. You therefore have no access to the Ombudsman unless it is less than six months since your rejection.0 -
I'd concur with Moneyineptitude - this sounds like it might be a Plevin issue (about the commission they earned for the PPI sale) - which only arises with previously rejected PPI complaints. It seems less likely that they're just re-opening your initial PPI complaint. Check the wording of the letter more carefully, it might mention court rulings, commission or Plevin.
I too got a letter from my bank saying they were reconsidering a previously rejected PPI complaint under Plevin and they'd hope to conclude it by the middle of the year. As the initial complaint had been defended and was a closed case, as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't seem unreasonable to just wait for them to complete that process. If I do get any redress it will be an unexpected bonus.0
