Options for BTL if first direct customer

Looking for advice on what to do if you're a first direct customer (we're 3 years into a 10 year fixed mortgage) and my husband has started up a company abroad so we're looking at joining him over there now and initially renting for a year or two before committing to staying there longer. I know FD don't do consent or buy to let and their early redemption fee is 2%. I'm also concerned that getting another mortgage could be tricky as he's in early days of the company and also abroad, not the same as showing payslips etc. Our mortgage if low - 25%-30% of property value. We're planning to rent abroad too. One thought was whether HSBC could offer something linked to first direct. Any experiences or thoughts much appreciated
