Two chimney breasts..what to do??

I am currently in the process of renovating a 3 bed semi, most of the house just needed a lick of pain, but I had to get rid of the old tiled fireplaces in both of the downstairs rooms. They have both been plastered over so now I’m left with a 2 flat chimney breasts both with some old wallpaper still left on the upper half. I intend on using one of the rooms to live in so will probably get a nice fire and surround to cover up the plaster in that room and the wallpaper on that wall can be easily covered with paint and a part strip job on the actual chimney breast. However the front room is the problem as it has a very heavy patterned wall paper, I have gone over it with 2 coats of watered down white and another coat of pure white, I intend on painting in a shade of light yellow, as it was previously used as a smoking room so was thinking this colour would cover up any old stains which may seep through. I do realise the pattern will always show through but I am particularly concerned with this chimney breast as the grate in this room was slightly larger so has taken up more of the wall, and if I were to strip just the chimney breast it may look odd being plain next to the patterned walls? Has anyone else had a problem like this before, if so any advice on what to do with patching up the wall? By the way when I say heavily patterned paper, I don’t mean an anaglyptic type wall paper, Im talking a very old fashioned regal like wallpaper.

if you mean you are painting the whole room white or yellow, then fine.
i think thatll be ok.
the lighter the color the less itll be in your face.
some wallpapers dont take kindly to re-painting though, so you may end up stripping the whole lot anyways.Get some gorm.0
