Amigo loand credit checking me without my consent/knowlege

Hi,

Please can some one help me. I am a guarantor for an Amigo loan (scum of the Earth for threats regarding legal action etc). I have been paying an agreed lower amount for years sucessfully and have the balnce down to £1100.00 ish.

I have recently found out they have been credit scoring me without my permision or knowlege. I contacted them and there response claimed it was to obtain if I was in a position to pay more or they could feasably take legal action against me for the debt.

I was of the understnding companies could not acces your credit file without your permission? SAm I wrong?......... Is it possoble somewhere imn the terms of th eloan it gives them permissiont o do so at their will?

Thanksi n advance.

  • You're a guarantor - so they would check your credit file.

They're not credit scoring you - there's no such thing

It's a virtual certainty that when you signed to be a guarantor, you also agreed to be credit checked when required.

When you ask to act as a guarantor we’ll look at your credit file at credit reference agencies such as Call Credit, Equifax or Experian. The credit reference agencies will give us credit information about you including information from the electoral register. This credit search is used to check your identity and your eligibility to be a guarantor.
