If you don't remember who sold you the PPI, short of writing to every lender, no.0

You can't remember who they were, but you can remember how it was mis-sold?I do not remember who the companies were
What would your complaint reason(s) be?0 -
I was never given a choice to refuse the ppi it was always a case of "you need this to protect yourself if anything goes wrong", and was always presented as a requirement to securing the desired loan i.e. "if you don't take the ppi you won't get the loan." It was only years later that I discovered that ppi was really a matter of choice.0

Problem is if you don't remember who the lenders were, you can't get anywhere with a complaint. Can you prove you were told you had to have it?

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

No - no proof whatsoever. All the answers have so far confirmed the difficulty I knew I faced - thats why I have even considered contacting one of these recovery companies that say they only need name, address and DOB and they will do the rest.0

They don!!!8217;t - they get you to provide the information then send it off and charge 33% or more of anything you!!!8217;ve awarded for the privilege. The relevant info isn!!!8217;t in the public domain.0

They're a bunch of liars, they don't have access to any information you don't as your financial information is not in the public domain - if they claim to know your records they're lying or stole themSam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

Last 6 years of accounts would be on the credit reference agency accounts like Equifax and Noddle, beyond that it's memory only unfortunately - though your old bank records might show who you were paying
