Hi guys
We’ve recently bought a house in Leeds which is 1930s semi and the previous owners had fully modernised the ground floor but the upstairs requires the same level of attention. Mainly getting rid of artex ceilings.
We’re still in process of receiving quotes but would really like to know whether we are being quoted right or we can go cheaper. Our first home and doing renovations.

Plastering ceiling and walls and boarding walls
Wallpaper remove
New skirting supply and fit
Bay window fix and insulate
4 spotlights supply and fit
Modern door handle
Paint room total £1350

New window supply and fit
Paint room
New skirting boards £1200
Room 3 (small box room)
New window suply and fit
Plastering full +boarding ceiling

Also one of the tradesman recommended that we remove the chimney breasts to open the two main bedrooms and possibly will loose the fireplace downstairs then too. Any major benefits to this?
In room 2 which is directly above kitchen whenever we cook the smell goes right through and he said removing the chimney breast would resolve that.
Room 1 the chimney breast removal would mean getting that extra cupboard space rather than being a waste or paying for expensive bespoke cupboards??
Living room; I really do like the cosy fire but our large tv now is on floor at moment besides the chimney breast as we found out getting an alcove type bespoke cabinet is pretty expensive. With the chimney/fire gone we could put tv on wall and get a modern fire installed?
Any opinions please? Thanks0
