New Build Delays

Hi Guy's,

I am seeking some advice on my new build issue, I reserved a new build property late September with a completion date of 28 March it has now been extended first to end of April then end of May and now could be mid June.

We have exchanged contracts and were first time buyers, I am aware we basically have our hands tied but what do we do about making a complaint and getting some compensation?

Regards

Usually the builders have something in the contract that makes it impossible to get any compensation as most new builds are late in completion.

No, they're not obliged to offer you anything. If it's delayed long enough you might have the ability to walk away (if there was a longstop date in your contract), but that'll be it.

You don't get compensation for delays in building work. The delays are usually down to the weather. How is the builder supposed to control the weather to make it perfect for building?
