I am stripping a room ready for boarding and plastering. The lintel above a window is now exposed. It is wooden and sagging. I put a spirit level below it is definitely lower in the middle by a small amount. Should I be worried and does this need replacing?

How old is the house?

How do you know that the lintel didn't dip in the middle from the day it was fitted?

Then, unless it's rotten, or there are signs of movement above, I would not be worried.
