Section 8 & 21

The S8 requires 2 weeks. Then the LL applies to court and the court decides if the S8 has been correctly served. Assuming the S8 is a ground 8 Notice (for 2+months rent arrears) then the court will give the landlord possession.
In the unlikely event that for some reason the court rejects the LL's S8 application, the landlord will then wait another 6 weeks (2+ weeks having already passed since the S21 was served) and apply for possession on the basis of the S21.
The LL is serving both in order to guarantee that one way or another he rids himself of this troublesome and expensive tenant.0 -

At the end of the day, you signed a contract to say you would receive housing, the LL's would receive rent from you for that housing. For whatever reason, that hasn't happened.
You could phone Shelter to discover if you have any options. But, rent does have to be paid.0 -
nothing here was disputed about the 'rent not being paid'
all of that right now is irrelevant and you are focusing too hard on that -
right now is the situation of a section 8 and/or 21
is it 14 days to leave or is it 21 days - thats all.
(regarding rent, i have told them of certain situations)
Maybe make your MP aware as well.0 -
You should name and shame the agency to your local newspaper that they aren't in any way sympathetic and threatening to make you homeless over your plight that your Mercedes is expensive to own and service.
Maybe make your MP aware as well.

Did you read (you were directed to it twice in your previous thread about your rent arrears) G_M's Guide to Ending/Renewing an AST:what happens when a fixed term ends? How can a LL or tenant end a tenancy? What is a periodic tenancy?
The bottom line is that the landlord wants you out and is sensibly taking a belt and braces approach. Sooner or later you will be leaving.0 -
Thanks,
the agency said that yes I have received a s8 as well as a s21. In the email they informed me that I have to be out of the property by 11th may.
I looked into the s21 and there was a date stating 24th june 2018.
I said to them why are there two different 'move out' dates...
She said 'i am required by law to move out by 11th may'.
The question is, what will happen if I am still in the property post 11th may exactly?
I am not looking to make things difficult, I am securing another place which will be another 1/2 weeks at best.0 -
If you'd read the information in the link you've been provided with numerous times now you would know the answer and that the letting agent is talking pish.0
