Barclays reopen my ppi claim

Hi, first post so please be kind.
I sent a ppi claim to First Plus and I know I had a loan with ppi, taken out in approx 2007/2008
I sent this claim in March and on thursday i had a letter stating that I had prebiously claimed and in May 2016 I
Had a payout if over 3k, (they enclosed the letter they sent with calculations.
I called to question this as I had not had any cheque or
replies. They have said it was time barred and I shouldnt have been sent that letter.
They said they will reopen the case..
Has anyone had any experience of this happening?
Any constructive info and advice welcolme x

Did they say you had previously claimed or complained?

If claimed, then the value of the claim paid will be deducted from any redress you received from your complaint.

Do you remember making a claim on the policy? You wouldn't have been sent a cheque, as they would have made the payments for you.
  • I had complained but they said I shouldnt have had the letter as no payments were made.
I did make a claim in 2016 but as I had not heard anything and not even an acknowlegement of receipt, I took it they hadnt had anything.
    Thanks for help

Was it a mis sell or did you claim on the insurance?.

    Is the loan still running?.

Did you get the cash back at the 5 year point?.

I don't understand what the £3000 was for, unless it was the cashback, if this is the case you want the remainder of the redress with the interest and the 8%.

    What were the calculations?.
  • Hi amersall
I have not had any money for ppi or cashback.
    It was a mis sell...
1st ppi claim i made was 2016 and I heard nothing, so I sent another ppi claim this year. Barclays replied and enclosed a letter from 1st claim with ppi calculations saying I have £3564 and cheque enclosed. I never had ghis cheque so I phoned and they said that I should NOT have been sent that paperwork as it was time barred.
They have now decided to reopen the poi claim.??
    It seems strange to me...

It's hardly to grasp what your letter says with such vague information, you should just ring up the firm and ask them

If you COMPLAINED you were miss-sold and they agreed and sent you a cheque (but this didn't arrive) and you never followed this up and have time barred it, then it's difficult to know but you ought to follow it up with them as they should re-issue the cheque. It sounds like they think you are trying to complain again not that you didn't get the payment.

Ring them up and explain you need the cheque sending again not that you are trying to complain again. They may have re-opened it for Plevin if they are treating your complaint as rejected

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
