Do I have a CCJ?

Options
I regualrly check my credit report through ClearScore and Experian.
For almost 3 years I have slowly but surely been paying off my debt. I’ve had 3 defaults - 2 are now paid off and 1 will be paid off by the end of the year. I’ve never had any CCJs or Bankruptcies.

I used to try and use Noddle, I think I first tried to use them about 3 years ago however they couldn’t find any credit report for me. Every so often they will email me to tell me they still don’t have a report for me.

Last week I applied for an amigo loan (decided against it as I came up with the cash) and during the application it said “you have a CCJ for £2500 (rough amount as I can’t remeber the exact figure) that’s okay! Just tell us how much you pay.”

This is news to me. I emailed amigo and they said they only see the CCJ date and amount and gave me some reference. They also said they use Call Credit to check my report.

I googled Call credit and it kept taking me to Noddle. When I re-registered with a different email it still couldn’t find my report.

I’m now really worried I have a CCJ that I have never been aware of, but it’s never shown up on ClearScore or Experian. Also slightly perplexed that Noddle (if they are also Call Credit) can’t find my report but can tell a loan company about some CCJ?

Any advice? I’m so worried :/

  • Check The Register to see if you have any CCJ's registered against you - https://www.trustonline.org.uk/understand-judgments-fines/searching-the-registers/the-register-and-ccj-checks

You'll need to pay a fee of around £10 but at least you'll know.

TotallyMoney and GiffGaff both also have a Credit Report checking service that uses Call Credit - see if you can register with either of those instead of Noddle.

    Hi Rachel

The credit reference agencies all get their information about CCJs from the Register of Orders, Judgments and Fines, so it's best to go to this source. You can search this for a fee of £6 per search at the link !!! has provided.

Noddle is a trading name of call credit, you should register a complaint with them and find out why they cannot locate your file.

    Thank you for your replies.

I paid £6 and it said nothing registered however I put in my most up to date address thinking it would ask me for previous addresses. I only moved into my new address a month ago.

Will I need to pay a fee for each address? From the time I got into debt I was in a few different addresses and cant afford to pay £6 for each one just now :(

Also I am in scotland if that makes a difference

If Amigoloans gave you a reference, did they say which court it was done through? You could then contact that court and get more info on who applied for the CCJ

I have responded to amigo loans asking which court but have a feeling they wont know or wont tell me. Waiting for them to respond.

I have just tried calling Noddle/CallCredit And still cant get my credit report from them and all they said was that I need to apply for my report through the post.

Ive now even email stepchange because Im devastated that I might have a CCJ that I dont know about. I dont know where else to turn. I wasnt sure if they could help me find out the info but they responded saying to check my report (unhelpful) or to call Northampton county court as they are the bulk centre for ccjs in England and Wales even though I told them Im in Scotland.

I dont know what to do. I dont understand how it can be so difficult for me to find out information about myself :(

    Hi again Rachel

If you live in Scotland you would have a decree rather than a CCJ. You can find these on the Register you were referred to, but you have to search on the address where the court papers were issued. The fees could add up if you're not sure what address it relates to.

It seems odd that nothing is showing on the your credit file with the 2 credit reference agencies you were able to check with but if you want to know for sure you would have to carry out another search.
