Credit car - chargeback, refund ?

Hi - not sure if this is the right place but just looking for some advice.

I have a Tesco credit card and my partner used this whilst having a mental health crisis (one sign is excessive spending). It was his first every episode and he ended up being sectioned two weeks later (two weeks before our wedding day!). He bought some quite expensive festival tickets which there is no way that we can use (May 2018)

I'd connected the ticket seller who given the circumstances said to contact the credit card for a chargeback as its against their terms and conditions to refund. I'd completely missed the charge on my account as dealing with hospitals, insurance companies (we also had a major water leak two days after his admission) and all the wedding plans. The dispute team have said there is nothing they can do and when I asked to lodge a complaint they said Ok, but we won't budge.

The ticket seller will only send the tickets 4 days in advance (they are e-tickets) so I have little or no chance of selling them.

Can anyone think of alternatives as already dealing with his other massive debts that he racked up during this time.

You won't get a chargeback in this case as there is nothing "at fault" with the items purchased

You have no right to cancel as event tickets are exempt. The card issuer has done nothing wrong as, I assume, an authorised user made the purchase. Unless your card was used without your authorisation, in which case you would need to report a crime, all you can do is sell the tickets on.

Wasn't authorised but can't report it as a crime as can't risk his mental health any further than it is currently.

Ah well just add it to the rest of crap dealing with

You may be able to sell them and arrange for them to be redelivered by 24 hour courier or Special Delivery. Have a look on the usual reseller sites to see if others are doing so.

(Double check your tickets won't have your name on and require ID to use.)

I have episodes of manic spending, and it's awful to try to sort afterwards, but you reach a point where you accept it has happened and there's nothing you can do to turn back time, only move forward and take steps to prevent it happening again. In all reality it probably will happen again, but in time you become more aware of the signs so you can minimise the episode and its impact.

Thanks - still a bit shocked by it all - some places have been marvellous at refunding money (honeymoon hotel refunded a non refundable room so can’t praise them enough) and others less so.
