To use Google's "Find my Device", you need to enable GPS and keep it turned on all the time. You should also follow the instructions on this page to ensure that the phone is correctly setup for it to work properly.

Once the above has been done, test out Google's Find my Device feature by visiting this page. It would be a good idea to keep that page bookmarked, so you can quickly locate the phone in the future. Or you can just type "find my device" into Google for the same page.

Why so rude? I have no idea what the "built in Google options" on his phone are as it is his phone and I do not use it. He is not technical and only uses it for basic stuff. I did ask him if he had any built in finding options and he just looked blank.

This is the techies column so obviously you are all clued up here but not everyone is and some people, OH and me, are not and I came here looking for helpful advice not snarky remarks.

No one has been rude. You have started TWO threads on the same issue, been given advise in both and ignored it all.

You don't need GPS on as long as the phone is set to be able to use the cell masts to determine location but you will get a more accurate location with GPS on (as long as the phone can receive the satellite signals).

Speaking of rude... Do you ever press the "Thanks" button when people help you? I found only 1 thanks in the many threads you started.

Your question has been answered in this thread and many times in the other thread. You don't seem to read it though.

Sorry if you percieved it as rude.

If you didnt understand advice you were given then you should have just asked follow up questions - we are always happy to help :)

I think simply ignoring good advice and starting a new thread rather than asking for explanations could be considered rude too ..

In short . the phone already has the tools built in to do what you need to do, good links have been provided above that should explain it all clearly .. If you need further help or explanation then come back and ask - as i said we are happy to help ..
