Faulty Ink Cartridge

Hello All
I need a bit of advice please if anyone is able?
I have owned an Epson Workforce printer for 3 years (Now out of warranty). I brought a replacement ink cartridge from Tesco last week, only for ink cartridge to leak in the printer and it's now completely unuasable.
I have contact Epson straight away, requesting compensation for the printer (I had to go and buy a new one as I needed documents printed off urgently) and also to refund the cost of the cartridge.
Epson have refused on both counts, as the printer was out of warrantly and they have stated I need to go back to the retailer to get a refund.
I have taken the cartridge back to Tesco, who have also refused the refund the cartridge, stating that I need to contact Epson.
HELP!
I need to know my rights, who have to refund the cartridge, and do I have a claim for damage to the printer?
Thanks in advance
Jamie

You're not going to get the full cost of your printer or a new printer back after 3 years. Buying a new printer is like cutting off your arm because of a papercut. You could have used a library service, or emailed a friend or family member. Buying a new printer to print documents urgently is kneejerk and you wont get compensation for that.
A replacement ink cartridge, fair enough. A new printer or compo for your printer, probably not.0 -
Thanks Marliepanda
I wasnt expecting a full refund at all, just compensation for the damage caused by their product in their machine.
Who is then responsible for the refund of the cartridge?0 -

Have you established why the cartridge leaked?
A faulty cartridge?
Inserted wrongly?
Wrong Seals removed?
A fault in the printer?0
