Sports Direct - Sharp Business Practise?

Options
Overheard someone talking about this the other day, neighbour has also been 'done' by them - now had same experience...

Got 2 pairs Karrimor walking shoes from Sports Direct website. One pair obviously faulty, 2nd had sharp piece of loose hard (plastic?) between heel moulding & lining. Emailed them re return postage & they said "send copy of postage receipt". Returned shoes with covering letter & attached photos showing faults. They sent me revised order stating 1 pair faulty, 1 changed mind. Checked bank & they had conveniently forgotten to add on initial postage paid.

Emailed postage receipt & queried return of initial postage - what was their response? Changed return status of both items to 'changed mind' which would mean I was not entitled to refund of initial/return postage (£16.16).

They may have thought they had taken on a loveable Springer Spaniel who will roll over - but I am a Pit Bull/Rottweiler cross & far from amused! Set 'case' out last night, quoting act, chapter & verse; marked it 'Letter Before Action'; also warned them that it could increase their liability for costs.

Just this minute received a response offering a £15 Evoucher as a 'token of goodwill'.

What should I do (apart from never shopping at Sports Direct again)?

  • Contact them again and simply state that you don't want a goodwill voucher but you want exactly what you are legally entitled to which is a full refund of the postage costs you have paid and that if you don't receive this within the next 7 days, you will be more than happy to continue with your legal claim.

I have submitted an mcol for this company. They are the least customer service focussed company I have ever come across. Good luck with your claim.

Just reply saying thank you very much for the kind offer of a £15 voucher as an apology - now can they confirm when they will also be refunding the £16.16 you are legally entitled to.

Also, don't buy Karrimor. It used to be a fantastic British company, selling good quality stuff at very reasonable prices.

Then Sports Direct bought the brand. You've discovered what that's done the to quality of the products.
