Boiler installation rush job & water Leak!

Following the recent gas connection installation to our house, we also took the opportunity to have gas central heating installed via grant funding available. The central heating company came and installed the central heating system on the 4th April 2018, completing the installation in one day.

On 17th April I woke to find water dripping from the ceiling into the kitchen. We contacted the company explaining the issue and the manager visited our house to investigate. It was initially believed to be a damaged condensation pipe so this was disconnected as an interim measure (with a bucket being placed under the condensation pipe from the boiler) until his team could attend the following day (20th April) to fix the pipe. During this time the drip continued into the kitchen.

The next day part of my kitchen ceiling collapsed due to the water damage. We contacted manager again to tell him what had happened. His team came on the evening a refitted the condensation pipe and they also stated that the joins in the pipe were not appropriate, with the pipe being ‘stretched’ under the bath instead of a correct join being fitted, this would have also contributed to leaking water, with the water accumulating under the floor boards for approx. 2 weeks prior to it dripping into the kitchen.

After this visit we expected the leaking water to slow down and eventually stop but there has been no change. I have again contacted the manager again (Thursday 19th April) informing him of the issue asking if someone can come and investigate further to locate and stop the leak but was told that they are all booked and cannot attend until this Wednesday (25th).

After taking the floor boards up ourselves in our bedroom we have found that a water pipe has been damaged and this is causing the leak.

I have tried to be reasonable and patient with company but my concern is that this issue and the on-going damage is going to get worse and is not being prioritised by the company as they are only concerned with the other houses they are fitting central heating in. We are worried that they will claim this is not their responsibility and will try not to repair the pipe and ceiling. No consideration has been made by the company to rearrange any other bookings to resolve this issue so we are having to wait nearly a week with continued dripping water until they can hopefully fix the fault.

We have also had issues with several radiators leaking water. When they installed the heating they said they were a man down which now makes me think it was all rushed. I don't feel safe in my home and I have no confidence in the heating system at all.

Not great with two young children in the house.

My question is where do we stand on this? Its only a small company and the director is the manager who we have been contacting so I can't even escalate it within the company. Should I contact Gas Safe? Is it a health and safety issue leaving the ceiling and water leaking like this and them not stopping it until a week later?

Tell company you won't pay them until they fix the faults... oh wait, you can't, as the rest of us paid for your installation.

There's a lesson to be learnt there I think.
