Permission to let from mortgage lender

I am trying to sell my property but as I have moved out and the market is slow I need to rent it out. Is my mortgage lender likely to grant permission for me to do this?

Letting your property while trying to sell is counter-productive.

    Do one or the other.

Do you want to be a landlord? Do you know what's involved?

This is the kind of attitude that gives landlords a bad name. How can you offer a stable rented home to someone when you are trying to sell the property?

Do one or the other. Either let it and become a landlord or sell it. Every property has its price. It is isn't selling quickly put it into a property auction.

Totally agree. It cost tenants a fortune to move in and what you are saying is that the best they'll get is 6 months and then what? You will expect them to show people around, deal with EA, repair people etc...

Of course you won't tell them that the house is for sale when you advertise it for rental because otherwise, no one would go for it. It's deceitful and greedy. If you lose money because you are struggling to sell, that's your issue, don't pass it on to innocent people.

We once rented from a lady that wanted to sell but couldn't. When our tenancy was approaching its end she put it on the market expecting us to stay on a rolling contract (and pay her mortgage for her) while it was up for sale. We didn't, we started packing up straight away and moved to a new more secure tenancy. Later found out she had done the same to the people before us and after we moved she was forced to re-rent it out for another year. It didn't sell until it was marketed as empty.
