Credit Card Charges

My partner had successfully recouped £1600 from his Halifax bank account so we thought we would give his credit cards a try. MBNA were by far the nicest people to deal with. He used to have three accounts with them and one is still active. We had all his old statements so skipped straight to the claiming bit. First of all we got a letter telling us that they would deal with the claim by blah blah date (two weeks) then we got letters telling us exactly how much money we would get back. The total of the three claims was about £1500 and we got back just under £900 in total from them. The one for the open account was credited back into it and we got two cheques for the others. How they calculate their offer still remains a mystery to me but he thinks that if you add up how many charges at £25 you had, deduct the £12 current charge amount and multiply this by 7 its roughly how much you get back. The Halifax weren't quite so nice, I had to threaten to take them to court, then I got £150 credited to his account. We then did my old MBNA account and I had to request the charges, again they were really very nice and quick. I have just been told that for a claim of £200 I will get £91 back. Nice little sum really. I'll use it as a payment for one of my other accounts. We are about to set to work on RBS and then I will do my Barclaycards.

There has been no repercussions from any of these companies and it hasn't affected his accounts. I know its a bit of a hassle doing your letters and working it all out, but hey, I view it as free money. We have closed his Halifax credit card as the amount they gave cleared the balance. Oh by the way, we did Sky credit card, the letter came back today. £138.50 for £275 of claim. Again, enough to clear the balance on the card. It has got to be the easiest way to repay your credit cards. All this before Xmas, it takes the strain out of the new year.

Stick to the letter templates you get from Martin on this website, they are tried and tested and the do actually work.

It has been the best thing we have ever done. I am now the highest paid secretary! Good Luck and keep at them.
