British Gas Hive

Not very happy with BG at moment We had installed Hive for the heating only to be told after 18 months the Hub needs replacing at a cost of £50.00. It begs the question how long would it be reasonable for a hub to last. To me 18 months does not seem that long but because it is out of guarantee (12 months) they will not do anything for us. Is it worth complaint or any help really appreciated.

Stuff should have a reasonable life and they cannot hide behind a 12 month guarantee..

You may have to get it inspected but BG have a responsibility way beyond the so called 12 month guarantee period.

This is the tricky bit as per your Which link:

The cost of getting expert opinion may be greater than the cost of a new unit.

May not then be worth the hassle. I have seen brand new ones on Amazon as cheap as £39.00.
