Pressure washer options (long distance required)

Hi all

I'm looking to install an outdoor tap so that I can use a pressure washer to clean my car. Because of the position of my flat relative to the road, I will require c 20m of hose to comfortably manage all the way round the car.

The most hose I've seen so far is 8m so I'll have to consider extensions. Obviously I'm also trying to keep costs to a minimum and don't need an all singing, all dancing washer, just need it for water (no detergents, brushes, etc).

Does anyone have any recommendations about how to achieve this, or good, cheap washers to look at which have the capacity to extend to 20m of hose? Karcher is all I can see at the moment, and I have found 20m extensions online but they are not official and I can't see that karcher offers such a length.

Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks!

Maybe I'm missing something ? Why do you need a 20m extension between unit and lance - why not just a standard 20m hose to the input of the washer (and corresponding power extension lead ?

I've just bought one of these and when linked to my hose reel will do more than 30m ? https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7904996

Thanks for your response. I may have misunderstood how the system setup works. Is a normal hose from the tap to the unit sufficient, so that only the hose from the Unit to the lance has to be the high pressure hose?

I had read that you had to be careful with any extensions used due to the pressure, hence why I was looking for official extensions which were compatible with the unit. If I can buy a standard 20m hose and connect it then all would be good.

Must admit I've not read the manual but on both this and a previous washer it's worked for me with the standard hose input and just the included high pressure hose for output.

Let's see if anyone comes up with a good reason why I'm likely to kill children/harm nuns etc

Nope, think you're right. Just had a look at a Karcher manual and it just mentions using a fibre enforced water hose at the tap. I think I was just being a bit dim! Thanks

Your hose from the tap doesn't have to be a high pressure one. You use any garden hose for that. So get a garden hose at 15m+, an electric extension at 15m+ and a pressure washer of your choice.

If the flow to the washer unit is too low make sure you don't have any "Aqua Stop" connectors they restrict the flow a lot or go for large(3/4") diameter hose.

No need for this - I have a 30m 1/2" hose and aquastop on final connection - pressure washer works just fine.

If the tap supply can't keep up with demand, then that's a different question!!

As above, you can just use a long hosepipe and extension wire and keep the pressure washer unit close to the car.

You can also buy an aftermarket compatible hose off ebay (search for the seller "qwasher") but the hoses are expensive (I bought a 15m one for about £45).
