Brexit, Leave.eu and MoneySupermarket

As Moneysupermarket are the owners of this site, it seems relevant to point out how they seem to have been using peoples data - sharing it with Eldon Insurance, who then shared it with Leave.eu

I wonder if someone who uses Twitter could post this on Martin's Twitter please?

Another good reason to use fake details on price comparison sites and approach companies direct once you sniffed out the best deals IMHO.

That may well be the case, but how many of us actually read the stuff?

In addition, Moenysupermarket seems not to have sufficient safeguards in place to protect our privacy: this is the relevant excerpt from the Guardian: "A spokesman for Moneysupermarket said: !!!8220;Our providers use the personal information from our customers to generate personalised quotes for the service they have asked for (such as quoting for car insurance) and are not allowed to use this information for anything else unless they have permission from the customer.!!!8221; Potential customers who use most price comparison websites enter multiple pieces of sensitive personal information into an inquiry form that is then passed to partner companies. The privacy terms of the PCWs make clear that such data sharing may occur. The fact that this happens, however, raises the prospect that people who simply searched for insurance online via a PCW could have had their private information shared in a way they might not have realised."

I agree with OP that it would be good to see an explanation and a guarantee that the information that we post at MSE is not used to promote the owners' political agenda(s).
