HSBC Basic Account

I've recently set up a basic account with HSBC, as my credit file is atrocious due to past mistakes. I'm on debt management plans for 3 defaults, so this account is the right one for me.
If you show good conduct and management with the account, do they offer you the chance to upgrade to the standard 'bank account'? Also, is the debit card standard or contactless as the welcome pack they sent me, it mentions both? Many Thanks.
