I dont find my skin gets used to a product as such but i do find that my skin changes a lot. Today i am using skincare products that would have bought me out in spots 6 months ago. I find its an ongoing process and a constant search for something better.

Sorry for not seeing this post earlier but yes, unfortunately i have tried the Creme De La Mer and its pants. Firstly its hard to apply. You have to warm your finger tips so that it slightly melts the cream as its in a sort of solid block (Think of coconut oil in a tub). Well, not too solid but not easy to get out. Then you have to press it into your face as its too stiff to rub, plus the fact its not creamy enough to spread everywhere. It also gave me spots on my chin. I didnt see a difference in my skin at all. All that for over £100 a pot!!!! Bahhhhh!!!! they must have seen me coming.

The very best thing you can do for your face is to use a spf every day during summer and winter. I also try and use a foundation which acts as another layer if the sun is particularly bright if i have time.

    Thanks Judi...

I remembered you saying you had used it but couldn't remember what you thought of it. Wonder why it is that all the celebs seem to go for the stuff?!

    LOOK!!!!...A bloke commenting, here!!

I would think the important thing is to regularly, from a young age (not much help if you're 199 already!!) use some form of moisturiser & keep out of the sun!!

I've ALWAYS, since ateen, had something morning & night, Nivea was my mums favourite, back then, so we shared - it's what Tom Jones uses, so they say!!

Currently it's St Ives calogen & elasticine, whatever that is!!

I've even got 61p Boots Basics, which is a bit greasy, but you only use a tiny drop & it's OK, too.

& all you ladies are welcome to test the smoothness of my cheecks.... ANYTIME!!

I don't think Tom Jones would be a good advert for Nivea - quite the reverse - he looks awful for 65!!! More like 75!!!

Great thread. Under EC legislation manufacturers of cosmetics must be able to prove claims can be proven. There's also the ASA and rules against misleading advertising.

I was off sick last week and saw this on BBC's Working Lunch- you'll need real player. Is basically a lesson on what companies can and can't say re cosmetics and names and shames some companies who have been adjuicated against for misleading ads.

The the bit I love was the discussion in the studio afterwards (not shown on this clip) where one of the panellists says its about how good a product makes you feel. The companies are selling you hopes and dreams of solving a particular problem when the product is no better than something else at the cheaper end of the market. So go out and buy the most expensive product you can afford and has nice packaging to look at whilst it's on your shelf and then use something cheaper!
:idea:I got an idea, an idea so smart my head would explode if I even began to know what I was talking about:idea:

Whilst not exactly a money saver type product, I personally use two different creams, Good old dramatically different Clinique in the morning, and Creme De La Mer in the evening (but that was bought as a birthday present so I didnt actually have to pay for it - £125  )

Think the creme de la mer is fantastic too. Its a little too heavy for me for in the daytime, but I have noticed a considerable improvement in my skin since I have used it.... In fact, a scar ive had above my eyebrow has reduced in obviousness, its less red and has shrunk somehow. Also, ive had my pot for 5 months and im only half way through it (30ml tub) Quite strange to get used to at first too, you need to warm it up on your palm first, otherwise it just doesnt spread so well.

However, some people say it is like the old style nivea in the pot, the thick creme stuff. Ive never really used nivea so I couldnt comment, but ive never used anything so good. Ill be buying it when it runs out anyway - and I feel so smug when my sister goes nto the bathroom and comes out exceptionally jealous! :D
