Problems porting landline from Plusnet to Vodafone

Had a phone call from Vodafone to advise that I could not move my old Plusnet and line phone number to them. Apparently they are saying it owned by TalkTalk (with them several years ago).

Phone Plusnet and TalkTalk (totally useless as the Indians had not a clue what I was talking about They kept saying to me that they have no UK staff that I would talk to).

Anyone any ideas how I can move this forward ?

Thanks.

Vodafone are saying TalkTalk own it.. I have been with Sky, Plusnet. and Ttalk. Can't say for definite who issued it. Suspect it may have been Ttalk.

You can check who owns the number here

If it is owned by Talktalk then they need to facilitate any port. Number porting (landline and mobile) in the UK essentially works on a forwarding process and agreements need to be in place to forward the call from TalkTalk to whoever your provider is. This is why you need to be careful about who issues numbers because if the number owner ever stopped trading this forwarding would stop working.

It sounds like maybe Talktalk have agreements with Sky and PlusNet but don't with Vodafone. It might be worth you posting on the PlusNet Home Phone community forums https://community.plus.net/ as the staff there are very helpful. The Talktalk community forum https://community.talktalk.co.uk/ might also give you more joy, but I have no experience of TalkTalk.

Plusnet community was very good. There is an OFCOM rule, which hopefully will make it Vodafone's problem to sort out.

    Not sure why ?

Anyway phoned Vodafone to advise them It matters not who owns the number, Ofcom General condition 18 requires that Communication Providers (CPs) facilitate number portability within one business day and given them 1 day to respond.

I will be asking for compensation.
