Energy Switch Question
Hi all,
Just a quick couple of questions, we are on pre-payment meters and we recently switched our energy suppliers from EON and British Gas to Boost as a comparison showed it to be an annual saving of about £77, before we had even received our key or card we received a notice telling us of a price hike which would cost us about another £49 a year, firstly is it normal practice, secondly is there a period of time you have stay with your current supplier before switching again, because to be honest I was both amazed and annoyed this could happen so quick.
Thanks in advance.
Andy

Don't think their is a minimum time.
It's just your bad timing you moved onto them as they announced price hikes!
Check your paperwork you should have a "start" date with B.G., check to see if the price hikes start before or after that date.
I'm not 100% sure of this bit but:
If the hike is after that date, then you might be able to stick on the old tariff till you move away if it's less than 30 days (49 days with some suppliers!)
If the price hike is before your start date, they will probably hit you with it from day one. so switch as soon as possible.
Any case on the switch day you can start looking around for "cheaper" suppliers and switch when ready.Laters

The price is only fixed for x months if you switch to a fixed tariff-yours is presumably variable. No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Thanks for rapid replies, will give it a month to make sure everything is switched
then check suppliers again, this time with a little more luck maybe2018 wins - Brabantia Bo Pedal Bin £125.000
