Hudl 2 cannot update Google Play Services

This happens after a full Factory Reset. It appears that it’s unable to correctly update the version of Google Play Services required by the Hudl 2’s Android 5.1. This version of Android is now fixed and won’t get updated.

This problem manifests itself after the Factory Reset has triggered an updating of everything under the sun.

Following advise elsewhere I've manually downloaded, Google Play Services 8.7.03 found at
Apkmirror dot com
But this has loads of different versions. After trying the one last recommended, which didn’t work, I simply went for the latest one in desperation.

The notes for this state that it’s for a minimum of Android 6.0+ , which I’m fully aware is plain wrong for the Hudl 2 using 5.1.

But so far it may work. I’m not being too confident that a problem may show up sooner or later.

Is there a better way around this problem? I really hope the Hudl 2 is entirely obsolete.

Ta. That's the forum I used but their suggested version didn't work for me. So I used a more recent one that's not for my android version.

So far it works..
