Nat West - closed my account

I'm 18 years old, I have had a select account with Nat West since the age of 11. My student grant comes into my Nat West account. On a few occasions I was overdrawn by £10.
On Monday, I received a letter from NAT WEST saying that they would be closing my account under 12.2 general terms and conditions. They did not explain their reason for doing so. There has been no fraudulent activity on this account and I have no idea why they have done so. I've been into branch and they say its a head office decision and that I would not be able to open a new account.
I've called their service desk lines and they have been just as unhelpful.
It's unbelievable that the Banks can do this. I'm at University and I am supposed to be the future of this
country. I don't understand why I am being treated unfairly.
Thoughts and suggestions appreciated.

Any gambling transactions, any "business like" transactions, is the overdraft arranged ? Raise a formal complaint and see where it leads.0

Open an account elsewhere. Not with RBS or Ulster Bank.
I'd suggest you get over yourself with that view of life.I'm at University and I am supposed to be the future of this country0 -
You won't get them to reverse their decision and they're unlikely to disclose any further information to you, although if you submit a Subject Access Request under the Data Protection Act asking for all data they hold about you (including a specific request for info about this decision) it might unearth something, but it's a long shot.
You could check your credit files to see if there's anything unexpected there: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/check-free-credit-report0 -
You lucky lucky thing.... Wish they would close my Natwest account.0

Are they closing the account immediately or with 60 days notice? If it's the former then it will be for one of the reasons listed in 12.2, if it's the latter then it could be any reason, including that they simply don't want you as a customer any more.

Was a mistake made by the bank?

To apply, you must be 18+ and a UK resident.
Have you looked at other student accounts?
