One Night In Bangkok and the World's your Oyster

Right here's the scenario.
We arrive in Bangkok Wed teatime. We're staying at the Centre Point Silom (thanks Donnie) We don't fly out till 1.30am Friday. Questions;
1) We want to do some shopping ( half a day is plenty for me but the Oh would shop all day). Where are the best shops for clothes etc?
2) I'm thinking of getting a suit made. Any recommendations?
3) As its the last night of our holiday we'd like a big night out. A nice meal ( Thai) a few beers and whatever.
4) Apart from shopping what else can we do? We've already done the Grand Palace, Floating Market and Bridge Over River Kwai.
5) What's the easiest way to and from The airport?
Thanks in advance and please don't tell me 1 night's not enough. We have been before and on this occasion we're just passsing through.

There are that many shopping centres it is hard to recommend any one in particular.
Maybe a visit to Patpong night market, good for fake designer things.
Or how about a nice Thai massage, The King & I at Sukumvit soi 12 is excellent, very clean and it has a lovely atmosphere, reasonable prices, great for facials, body scrubs, aromatherapy Thai massage, foot massage etc.
If you want to go somewhere really different visit the Siriraj Medical Museum which displays exhibits relating to forensic medicine, Pathology, Parasitology, Anatomy and the history of medicine in Thailand. Be warned though you will need a strong stomach for this museum.

Go to the Banyan Tree hotel and to the Vertigo restaurant and bar. It is the highest outdoor bar in the world and really special.

You sure? It's not even the highest outdoor bar / restaurant in Bangkok!

However, Vertigo is very special, very romantic, we saw lightning hit the city from clouds below the restaurant :eek: - amazing.

Food is grill / steaks, good meats (rare Japanese massaged beef and all that), overpriced of course, but the whole experience is worth it. Recommend booking a table in advance, or you might / probably won't get in!

There is also the great seafood place off sukhumvit where you pick your fish from a tank and they cook it how you like with all sorts of veg etc to choose from

We had a fantasic meal on a river cruise. They pick you up from the hotel and drop you back after. They depart near the Oriental Hotel. We booked through http://www.loynava.com/welcome.html

We just went the Banyan Tree for a cocktail. the bar is in the same place with the same views.

We also had a great meal at cabbages and condoms and if you have not been to the bed supperclub then it's worth a look. Both places have great web sites if you google them.

i second this post..MBK is the best! Teh food courts are also very very good. The posh one on 5th floor is very cool and nicer when they have the live music playing...shame the UK has no such nice things on offer. Also try the Siam Center over the road for some real posh experience! And the food court over there is like pure 5* luxury in food courts! You can eat in front of massive fish tanks!

What we also did in MBK was after an hour or so of shopping call in for a foot massage to keep you going. Must of cost all of a couple of quid!
