Andre Rieu concert ? best in UK or abroad plse

I want to book a surprise for husband special Birthday. We are in Suffolk. Trying to keep cost fairly reasonable, we could just go for day to London or Birmingham concert. We could stay the night somewhere and have another day up there.

But I thought it would be lovely to go for 2 or 3 nights in Maastricht, see him there and explore the area a bit. We could possibly fly or may be easier to drive to Ebbsfleet and get Eurostar. Any advice very welcome please.

I see there are 2 night trips on Newmarket Holidays etc. Would rather not have coach if poss as they usually are a really long journey dropping everyone off. The trip is £429 for the cheapest tickets £59 and option to increase, highest tickets nearly double. As this will be a one off I guess we need to get best tickets we can afford.

Anyone done similar? Thanks

I've just had a look at the cost of tickets in Maastricht and they are cheaper than in Nottingham, where I've just booked to go. However, the cost of hotels in Maastricht is significant; I'm not sure if it is because of the Andre Rieu tour, but you are looking at a couple of hundred a night for a room. If you can find a room at an acceptable price, I think the trip would be very special. Driving to Ebbsfleet doesn't save any cost over travelling from St. Pancras; so if you can get to Kings Cross/St.Pancras for the cost of parking at Ebbsfleet while your away, that might be better option.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.
  • Thanks for looking. I can see hotels in Maastricht are expensive, and also likely fully booked. I'd want one we could walk to, as I understand the concert finishes late, and most public transport stopped by then.

I see there are also tickets in Vienna Prague etc, where there may be more hotel options. Not sure where is best, could then get a cheap flight possibly.
