    you wouldn't expect to pay for a complete replacement of the car if you have an accident or the car is stolen, you'd expect to pay the insurance excess only. I can't really see why having the tyres slashed is any different.
    As the OP himself has already pointed out, tyres are not covered by the insurance at all;

  • Bluntly put, your position seems to be that you simply want the company to pay for something that you alone are liable for.

    This isn't going to happen.

    I also doubt your SAR will reveal anything you haven't been told already.

    The small claims court would cost you even more money....time to move on.

    Thanks for the repetition of previous comments and my own conclusion! Glad to help a fellow forum user boost their post count...

  • Anyway, I've got my feedback (thank you)... Obviously my expectations from past experience, my prior relationship with zipcar, the opinion of their employee and my own way of working lead me to think that zipcar would take a different approach. If I'm. The only one who thinks this way then so be it...i still don't have to use their service...

    Why not and do as SFA suggested make a couple of phone calls to local tyre fitting places just to see how much they would charge for the same tyre and if it is considerably cheaper elsewhere, ask zipcar if they would refund the difference.
    There might not be any difference or it might be so little so as not to be worth it but then again..
  • Appreciate the constructive suggestions (and the apparently genuine concern for my £10) but I'm probably not going to shop around for a tire I've already bought on a say like today :cool2:

    I have read the Zipcar T&Cs (https://www.zipcar.co.uk/sites/default/files/pdfs/zipcar_uk_membership_contract_-_february_2017v2.pdf).

    They state as follows:

    Damage Fee: Assuming a Member's compliance with all of the terms and conditions of this Contract, the Member's responsibility for the damages described in clause 5.1 shall be limited to the damage fee (the "Damage Fee") associated with the Member's driving/membership plan and/or the type of Zipcar vehicle used by the Member in the amount as set out in Schedule 5: Membership and Driving Rates Schedule. Members will be responsible for up to the full amount of the Damage Fee for actual, estimated or projected expenses, whether or not an actual claim is made or processed, unless the Member has purchased a Damage Fee Waiver.

    So unless the Op had breached the T&Cs, ZipCar can charge the Op for the damage up to the damage fee only. Regardless of whether the tyres are covered by ZipCar's insurance or not!

    So the Op needs to tell us what the 'damage fee' associated with his membership is, and whether he purchased a damage fee waiver. If the Op did not purchase a waiver he must pay the cost of fixing the tyres up to the damage fee.
    As the OP himself has already pointed out, tyres are not covered by the insurance at all;
    Ah, my bad. I didn't read that.
