Setting Up For First Time
Good Morning
Myself and my boyfriend are moving in together and neither of us have ever had any kind of account before. When I was researching it online, the companies seem to presume that we are switching, when in fact we are not.
We'll need to contact electricity, gas, council tax, TV licence people, who else?
Any helpful hints please?
Thanks

Add to your list the local water company for your area. Tell them you are the new occupant.
Gas and electric - you need to contact the existing supplier(s) as you will be deemed to have them when you move in and you will be puton their most expensive standard tariff so compare and switch.
Phone - your choice from day one
Council Tax - tell your local council you have taken occupation and they will send you a bill which you can choose to pay over 12 months.
TV licence - go to your nearest Paypoint and give them £160 and ask for a TV licence - you will get change out of this the actual cost is about £150 don't know exactly
DON@T FORGET TO READ WATER< ELECTRIC AND GAS METERS AS SOON AS YOU MOVE IN and if possible photo the readings as well so you have a record.0 -
TV licence can be done online by direct debit
I expect the council tax ppl will send you a letter0 -
Don't forget contents insurance, and change of address for things like any cars registered to you.
Just use any comp site with your postcode and estimated usage. For the existing supplier, put in anything you like-what matters is the result. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
