Looking to buy the above at argos large one to be take 30 kgs maximum. It is a long 12 hours journey and am a bit concerned whether it will stand the mishandling as it does look fragile. Will 8 wheels better than 4? Advice pl. My suitcase actually weighs 5 kgs but it is sturdy and I am debating whether to get a lighter one for easy manoeuvre. Thanks

IT Luggage is very good IMO.
However, you have to expect it will have a more limited lifetime than standard weight suitcases. Be prepared to replace the bits of fibre glass frame as they snap (a cheap and easy thing to do).
We've had a pair of ultra light large cases for a good few years. They've lasted nearly 10 holidays which were all road trips (so lots of manhandling each day). Just looking to replace now and will happily buy similar ones.0 -
What is the limit, per case, for airport baggage handlers ?Looking to buy the above at argos large one to be take 30 kgs maximum.
I thought it was 23kg for many/most airlines ?
We've used "normal" lightweight IT luggage for years and it is still perfectly serviceable despite battle damage, knocks, wear and tear.
I wouldn't get too focused on the biggest is best mindset, these very large cases can be a logistical challenge - but that's just my opinion.0 -

The limit is 30 kgs international flight and not more than 32 kgs for H&S.0 -
28kg vs 30kg isn't make that much of the difference.
Have you try packing everything into your existing suitcase and see if your existing one manageable?0 -
Much to my wife,s disgust, I have collected over the years a number of suitcases which now fill our loft. This comes from years of travel and flying for different durations to different parts of the world on business. When it became in vogue to travel with a wheelie cabin bag my collection grew further with different airlines having different cabin size restrictions.
I do have one large IT polyurethane hard shell case with 4 wheels which has serve a couple of trips to Australia carting bits down under to family. The only other light cases I have tend to be hand luggage wheelie ones where I know how they will be handled (by me). For any checked luggage I tend to prefer something more robust.
I think the destination also comes into play when selecting the case for a trip. 8 wheels, or even 4, will allow you to glide elegantly through the terminal at Heathrow on nice flat shiny floors. Not quite the same experience when you get landslide in places in Africa or India when you find your extra wheels being dragged along uneven unmade roads and paths to get to a taxi just outside the airport. I would also opt for a hard side Samsonite for travel to Africa, South America, India and parts of Asia for added security and rough airport handling.
Probably has not helped your decision making but I do feel better talking about (according to my wife), my luggage fetish.0 -
IT luggage comes with a 10 year guarantee - just keep the tags that are attached to the handle and the receipt - you can!!!8217;t go wrong!0
