Nightmare!

Hello,
So I'm having abit of a nightmare with british gas!
basically i swapped over providers because they cost to much and when i did they sent me a letter to say i owed them £111. So i rang up to attempt to split the costs over a repayment plan. It all went through and waited to my date set for the money to come out on my first payment plan. 2 Days before my payment plan i received a message from my bank to say i was overdrawn, i checked my bank online & it said that british gas had taken £151 from my account!
so i rang and got through to customer services, she told me to make an emdempety to the bank to get my money back which i did and got the money back and she said there was so recollection of me ringing to set up a payment plan, she said she would call me back that night with a few answers to my questions and to set up a payment plan,
i am still waiting for that phone call a week later!
anyways british gas have sent me a letter claming the £151.
does anyone know if i have any rights to fight this back?
Thank you.

I've not much experience in this, but it sounds unusual that an outgoing supplier would allow you to leave, then clear any debt over several months - I thought you had to clear any debt in full once a switch was made.
Also, why are they after £151 when the debt was £111?

If the OP was billed on estimated, then their account may not have been overdrawn before the switch took place.
