in Game over
From Sunday People's Love Sunday Magazine:
Think you've got what it takes to be an author? Enter our fiction competition to see if you could be the next JK Rowling!
If you're an aspiring author, we'd love you to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and come up with an original story in under 1,500 words. The theme is entirely up to you - it can be happy, sad, funny, scary, romantic, or anything in-between.
If you win, you'll not only get your story printed in this magazine, but you'll also win £500 and one year's membership to The Author School so you can really hone your craft.
Last year's winning story was She Knew Him So Well by Joan McEvoy, a woman in her 70s who had been writing since her 20s. The tale of a wife and husband trying to spice things up, with a very dark twist. So if you think you can come up with something just as good, get entering now...
HOW TO GET STARTED:
Choose a theme - Think about what genres appeal to you and what you enjoy.
Which authors inspire you? What is it you like about their style? Do you write in a similar way?
Decide on a time period - Way back when or futuristic? Or keep it to the present day...
Stick to what you know - Write about something you may have experienced or something close to your heart.
Ask someone you know to be your sounding board for ideas or read drafts of your story.
Think about your ending - will it have a twist? Happy or sad? Or will it be a cliffhanger?
WHAT WILL YOU WIN...
Runners Up
Three runners up will also have their stories printed in Love Sunday over several weeks.
HOW TO ENTER:
Email your short story to lovesundaystory@trinitymirror.com
OR
Post them to Love Sunday Short Story Competition, One Canada Square, Canary Wharf, London, E14 5AP
Closing date is 31 July, 2018. And remember, the maximum word count is 1,500.
