Return of shower cubicle- due to preselected error on website

Hi
We are having a new bathroom fitted. Due to layout we had to order a 3 door shower cubicle. We order via a company called shower tray uk. When we ordered we found the shower cubicle we wanted. The website preselected the shower tray that fitted ( thought we!) We received it all. Plumbers started to fit the shower.. they fitted the shower tray (with the drain toward the wall) However when they opened the cubicle package found that the size doors that we had ordered were the wrong way round for the tray. (Without giving the long explanation the drain on the shower tray would have been away from the wall if we had used the 3 doors we had been sent ) we contacted the company they said take some photos of the package and we will decide if we can resell and give you a refund. (We had packed the shower cubicle up again). We explained the error had happened due to the website preselected the shower tray. We wrote an email to explain the above with photos. We got an email back saying that we could return at own costs and they would then make a decision if they would refund us.
The cost to return is nearly £100 as the 3 doors are so heavy. The price we paid for the doors was £360.
I have tried to contact Resolver but as it's a small company they are not on their list. I have email resolver but have not had a response.
We don't really know what to do?. Do we pay £100 to return risking that say they won't refund us ( 2 of the packages have been opened so we should get refund for 1 door) Can we complain to anyone else? We feel that the way the website preselected the shower tray was the reason we ended up where we are. The company has not responded to any part of our complaint apart from asking us to return at our cost. Any help, advice or experiences would be really appreciated.

From what you've said you don't have to pay anything to return the items as the fault was not yours. As they are not responding you need to send them a letter before action advising them that they need to refund and organise collection/postage within a reasonable time or you will start a small claim (and then do that if they still don't respond).0

Am I missing something? Because it sounds like possibly the fault has been the fitters in fitting the tray the wrong way. Or was there a reason the tray had to have the drain next to the wall?
You say the tray would have to go the other way for the doors to fit, how does that fit in with whats advertised? Does it match whats advertised (even if it didn't match what you expected)?
When did you make the purchase, when were they delivered and what were you told about your right to cancel and return delivery fees at the time of entering the contract? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -

I'm thinking the same as here, it's the doors that you (OP) chose so if they delivered what you ordered they are correct, if anything it's the tray that they recommend you add on that is wrong but even then they are universal and you fit them however you want to to suit your bathroom layout so it does sound like either you've made an error in your design or your fitters have made an error with the fitting.0 -
Perhaps if you give the long explanation it might make things clearer.0

Hi.
Many thanks for your messages. The long explanations regarding the shower tray.
It's a 3 door cubicle. The 2 side panels are longer than the door. Subsequently the shower tray is rectangle rather than square..On the website it shows the drain against the wall, the drain being on the short side of the rectangle. So the plan was to have drain by the wall and the door facing the room. However what was delivered was a shower tray with the drain hole on the long side. If we had places the shower tray this way we would have turn the who shower 90 degrees and the door to the shower would have been at the side. I hope this makes sense. Due to short time scale with the fitters we decided to use turn the shower tray 90 degrees but buy doors that fitted this elsewhere.0 -

That still only makes sense if you insist on having the drain against the wall, it doesn't have to go against a wall so you could have still installed it with the short end against the wall. My current shower has the drain in the centre and in my last house it was on the outermost edge from the wall to allow other drainage pipes to also run underneath it. It is still the shower tray that seems to be the wrong one supplied and not the doors, the doors are exactly what you ordered.0 -
Would it nit be cheaper to get a new shower tray rather than three new doors?0

I am also confused.
why couldnt the drain go in any of the 4 corners ( or 2 corners if its not square)
The pic you saw with the drain against the wall would have just been for illustration.0 -
Looks like a right shower this?
When I had my bathrooms done last year, the purchase of the shower tray and doors was given to my plumber,. That way, if it goes wrong, it is down to him to sort it.
He did an excellent job!0
