potterton HE Powermax burner failed to light

Hi there
Can anyone help?
Boiler : Potterton powermax HE
Problem: burner fails to light and thus boiler locks out.
Question: The programme control unit did play up. When setting the hot water on "Timed" it would change by itself to "on" and stays on until I manually change it back on "timed programmed" by pressing the button. Could this be the cause of the above problem of the burner?
Please please help?
Thanks

Hi
I think these units have a bit of a problem with electronics. The lockout is a failure to detect a flame so either no gas, or no signal back to the pcb that there is a flame.
As you have a problem with the programmer then it's possible you have a problem with the whole electronic part of the boiler.(PCB)
I would call Potterton and get one of their engineers out, if you can give them the serial number, or as much detail as possible.
Good luck.
Edit
Blocked condensate drain? Did you get a fault code?
