curtain pole help please

hi there in a room of a rented flat there is a wooden curtain pole but with no fixings attached, either rings or curtain hooks and it is enclosed either end - ie it can't just hook off some supports and then be put back up when the curtains are attached.

As this is about 10 feet in the air and quite difficult to access, has anyone got any ideas of a way I can hang curtains to afford some privacy?

many thanks

usually if its a solid wooden pole one of the ends will detach to allow curtains with the eyelets in to be looped on.

The ends (finials) often unscrew, and then the pole can be withdrawn through one of the supports when then also unscrews from the wall. You really need a set of step ladders (one with six steps plus the platform at the top should be tall enough). If you don't have one, your landlord might buy a set for the flat; they really should provide one if the Tenancy Agreement makes it the tenant's responsibility to change lightbulbs.

If the landlord won't provide one, you'll have to hire a handyman to come and take the pole down and reinstall it when you have fitted your curtains. The cost of this will be about the same as the cost of a set of step ladders...
