Brass Cleaning Advice?

I have been using autosol paste on some Brasso wadding to clean some brass items and the results are astounding however, i think Brasso is expensive for a small tin costing £2 :money:, i'm wondering if the wadding could be bought cheaper without the brand name.
Is their a certain type of item i could use such as steel wool or would this scratch the brass?
How do you get in the nucks and crannies, i have tried a toothbrush but can't get the paste out after using it.

why are you using autosol on brasso? just use the autosol with a microfibre cloth.

Toothpaste also makes for a very good polish.

Just don't use wire wool on brass or copper - It will scratch the hell out of it and little fragments will get embedded in the brass which will eventually rust.

As above, use either Autosol on a cloth or Brasso. Pointless using both.
Use a series of clean toothbrushes and toothpicks or matches to remove excess polish.

Wash the brass with washing up liquid and hot water (we use a toothbrush) after polishing to remove the excess polish from in the details.

The missus has used fresh lemon pieces, rubbed on well, to clean brass tables in the past. Works well, if not too quickly. It's the acid in the lemon that does the trick.
