basic bank account VS current bank account

Hi.
I currently hold a basic bank account with the co-operative bank - this was opened whilst under an IVA.
My local co-op branch is now closing so I'm looking to change to Barclays.
however, I'm no longer under an IVA so I'm unsure whether to stick with a basic bank account or get a current account instead?
Would a current account help me rebuild my credit?
Kind regards
