hi all
just wonder if anyone has any experienceof this as either a claimant or an insurer?
we have had to cancel our holiday due to our cat being very ill (attacked by dog, disappeared for 5 days, came back very ill and stitches not due out until 3 days after we go on hols).
cat is really quite ill, thin and dehydrated and needs to be kept moving, exercising (indoors), given extra water via syringe etc etc.
we are going to claim on our travel insurance. duration and pre-booking in uk is ok. no mention of pet illness either way - all about humans being ill....
any thoughts or experiences anyone? (already cancelled by the way, so no comments on that one please!) x

Do you have pet insurance? I am pretty sure that I covered for such a situation on my cat's insurance.
Hope he/ she is getting much better xGone ... or have I?0 -
I hope your cats OK soon I would be doing the same as you I couldnt leave either of mine ill.
Pity you had cancelled it you might have been able to sell it on
I dont think normal holiday insurance will cover it but like dmg said its worth checking your pet insurance or daft as it seems any other policies you might have..all it costs is a phone call
Good luckIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
thanks for your replies.
our cats aren't insured (but our dogs are - it wasn't our dog by the way...)
i did think about selling the holiday on, but i don't think the company would accept that.
i have rung the travel insurance company and got a claim form - i have taken photos of my cat at his worst (bless him) and will get a letter from the vet when he has his stitches out.
what i don't get is that if this was a human close family member there would be no problem, but it may not count for a cat that i have had for 12 years. does that mean that animals are not valued?
will let you know how i go on x0
