With a budget of £450k you should be able to afford Burnham and Taplow which both have mainline stations on the GWR (assuming you're thinking of Crossrail benefits). Cippenham doesn't have it's own station so you'd need to go from either Burham or Slough.

With that budget there would also be some places in Maidenhead that would be within reach.

How are you thinking of getting to stations - if you're considering driving / parking bear in mind Burnham / Taplow have small stations / car parking and most roads nearby are residents permit only. Maidenhead has more parking but it fills up quickly. They are planning to redevelop one of the main car parks in the next few years adding more spaces.

Slough and Maidenhead are both undergoing redevelopment in the town centres - Slough seems to be a bit further ahead than Maidenhead at the moment but you're not far from the new Lexicon at Bracknell, or the Oracle in Reading. Maidenhead has also just had a new leisure centre approved (relocating the old one that is near the end of it's useful life) so that is also coming in the next couple of years.
