I've just got a portable for the kitchen and would like to run a cable from my Sky+ box that is the other side of the wall. Only thing is there is no scart socket at the back of the portable, so can I run just a normal ariel type lead from a Sky+ box to the ariel socket at the back of the portable and will it work ?

yes it should work fine, if you plug it into ur rgb socket on your sky box, also if you purchase a magic eye(they are quite cheap on ebay), you can even turn over the channels from your kitchen, i currently use this set up for my bedroom, saves going downstairs to turn over channels, hope this helps, DaveTake every day as it comes!!0

I think spaceman means the RF2 output on your Sky + box.
You do need to activate it though, just run a coaxial lead from there to your kitchen TV, you will then need to tune it in to the appropriate channel for the Sky box signal and you will also get the terrestrial signals down the lead as well.
Go into the services menu, option 4, then press 0 then 1 then select to access the installers menu and go into the rf outlets option, check rf2 power is on.

hi just looked on ebay, here is one of those magic eyes i was on about, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SKY-Magic-Eye-tv-LINK-Silver-New-Control-sat-in-bed_W0QQitemZ140170559387QQihZ004QQcategoryZ67881QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItemed
alternatively here is one with a remote control as well: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/NeW-gEnUiNe-sKy-ReMoTe-CoNtRoL-Tv-LiNk-MaGiC-eYe-MoUsE_W0QQitemZ330177892862QQihZ014QQcategoryZ67881QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
again just an idea, but if you just stick an aerial lead in, it will work just fine, just means you will have to turn the channel over at source, thats all, thanks Dave.Take every day as it comes!!0 -
