Highview/DRP - Final Settlement Offer

Hi all,

I've looked through all the newbie thread and unless I've totally missed it, I couldn't see anything specific to the registered keeper in this case. Please point me in the right direction if I have missed it though.

The registered keeper (RK) in this case has received the "Final Settlement Offer" letter from DRP. They have recommended to Highview that court action should go ahead.

So the RK is unsure what the PCN is for, other than the date and location of the original notice. There was an issue with their address with the DVLA (being sorted) and so a good chance that any original PCN's from Highview went to the old address (RK now using Royal Mail forwarding services, but didn't until recently). DRP used their tracing methods to find the new address.

The RK, as DRP seem to hope for, is feeling a little intimidated. Should the RK get in touch with Highview to try to understand what the original PCN was for or continue to ignore?

Any advice would be appreciated

Hahaha, Highview and DRP are a combination to laugh at, and ignore.

Highview CANNOT hold you liable as registered keeper so never tell them who was driving and it goes absolutely nowhere fast. No ringing DRP, no contact.

Don't be! Do not contact them.

If you'd had a PCN you could have killed it off with one email, they skedaddle when they see the forum template but if you try that now - this late - you just get a fob off to contact DRP, which is not something to do (ever). So no point.

What happened when you complained to the retailer, likely to be Tesco? Easy to cancel by complaint if it was a Tesco car park and a genuine shopper having a rant at Dundee Tesco HQ!

Is it certain that Highview can't hold the RK liable? Is it standard wording on all of their PCN's that lack the detail required based on this point in the newbies thread?
Only ask as it's difficult to tell without the original PCN.

Yes, I'm definitely advising against talking to DRP, which they've understood.

Unfortunately it was Christmas shopping day for the RK with many shops visited, so knowing the date of the PCN doesn't help much to knowing where it took place. Likely to be a retail park however. Looks like the advice is to continue to ignore though. Thanks

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.

The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by Christmas.

Final settlement offer, yes I had one of those, it was the one before the reduced settlement offer from Zenith Collections, same Muppets different note paper!
