Hi
I am gonna get my OH one of these for christmas as a suprise but which one?
.We already have a Wii and he had an x box 360 premium console but had lots of trouble with it and ended up sellling it. He loves games like Call of Duty and Medal of Honour and isn't really into Halo and those sort of games. He does love the x box controller though, does anyone have any advice,i am swaying towards a ps3 at the mo x

I sit on the fence, but have a read of this from the Grauniad
It's a couple of years old, but manages to capture the essence of the war!
edit This is a little more up to date0 -
Well if your OH has allready had a xbox 360 why not let him try the PS3, im sure he will love it, is he also one for movies? The PS3 has a built in blueray player that will allow HD movies to be played.
Will it be connected to the internet?
If it will be im sure he will love Warhawk, i have only herd good things about it, and up to 40 people can play online with him in a game.
Have a look at these games, all of which are only available on the PS3:
Haze ( Out in November ):

Killzone 2 ( Early 2008 i think ):
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24219.html?type=flv
Warhawk ( Online Only, Out NOW ! )
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/24451.html?type=flv
Resistance ( Out NOW ! )
http://www.gametrailers.com/player/15067.html
Uncharted ( Out early December )

I think he will like most of them?
PS3 will also have a thing called HOME which is like a 3D virtual world which he can have his own virtual home, i think that should be out in spring 2008.
Also i think the PS3 will look great under anyone's TV set.

I've got a PS3 and a 360, and of the 2 I use the PS3 more than the Xbox. It's a lot quieter when playing games (and importantly, DVDs). The Xbox has an easier interface to play your own music during gaming, though.
Games-wise, I'd go for the PS3. The only major exclusives for 360 are the Halo range (which you said he's not interested in), and Mass Effect (an RPG, looking very sweet IMHO). The PS3 has the juggernaught known as Grand Theft Auto 4 coming out next year (April I think, unless its delayed again), and also the likes of Gran Turismo and Resistance: Fall of Man, which I reckon is still a great game, even though it's a launch title.
The wireless controllers for the PS3 are better than Microsoft's, you can charge them from the USB sockets on the front of the console, whereas the Xbox runs on normal AA (or is it AAA?) batteries, unless you buy an extra piece of kit that's a battery pack and charger.
The PS3 also supports various memory cards (such as SD cards), and the Hard Drive is basically a PC Drive, so it's easy to replace if you want a bigger one.
If you get a PS3, make sure it's an original, not one of the recent "lite" versions. The cheaper ones have a smaller hard drive, fewer USB sockets, and a couple of other "extras" removed.
Hope this helps, and if you have any specific questions about the consoles, just hit the PM button and I'll get back to you.Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.
