Car warranty issue

Hi there, just after some thoughts on our situation.
Bought a year-old car May 17 with 4 years left on the warranty, checked to make sure it hadn’t been written off (it hadn’t). Parking sensors stopped working Jan 18, should be fixable on warranty but on investigation the car doesn’t have the original bumper, wiring has been tampered with (we wondered why there was no boot light (there was, it hadn’t been reconnected)) and there’s no record of any work being done by an authorised garage. It may have been involved in an accident and someone fixed it but not with an authorised repairer.
So we are facing a bill to get the work done, can’t be done under warranty and we had no idea at all when we bought it that there was an issue, and to be honest, the dealer we bought it from most likely wouldn’t have known. Not sure where we stand with this, is the dealer at fault for selling us a car that isn’t as described? (Ie with a full warranty) or is it a issue with them and their supplier? Or do we take it on the chin as it’s a used car?
Thanks!

The boot light not working would have caused me to take it back, anyways have you taken it back to the selling dealership?
Oh...no drip feeding the thread.0 -
Hi, thanks for the reply. We didn't know it had a boot light and in hindsight should have taken it back, It is now back at the place we bought it from, waiting to hear their verdict....0

When you buy a used car you never know for sure what you are getting.
I sold my last car as a trade in for £12500 which then retailed at £14000. There was nothing recorded against the car to say that 5 months earlier it had £7000 of damage repaired due to an accident as it wasn't written off.0
