The RAC - so much for loyalty

I have been a member of the RAC breakdown service since 1989 and what do I get for my loyalty at renewal date????
£21 additional cost. What a con.
When I phoned them up for a brand new quote pretending to be a new customer it came out £21 cheaper and even the operator said he couldn't explain it, it was just one of those things.
Yeah, what a rip off. Reminds me of that 'new customers only' bank advert.
The RAC? - Read Martin's tips and go elsewhere!

Frustrating, isn't it? You have my sympathy/
I just can't understand why so many companies have no respect for customer loyalty. Surely it is much more cost effective to adopt policies to keep your existing customers than to continually chase new ones.
Though, thinking about it I suppose most will just accept the increase. Customer inertia can be very profitable. Let's hope sites like this can persuade people to vote with their feet and perhaps some companies will get the mesage.

The AA did the same to me a few years ago.

This happened to us also , so for the next four years we simply alternated every year between the rac and then aa , but now we pay for our rac membership with clubcard points instead of cash .think it works out at £35 worth of CC vouchers compared to our normal £135 ish membership."The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page."
happy travels !!

We've had this with Direct Line, our insurance has come down a little but our breakdown cover has shot up. I've since found that I can get both my insurance and breakdown cover far cheaper elsewhere. I rang Direct Line to see if they could do anything for us and was told (exact words) "because you ONLY have third party, Fire and Theft there is nothing we can do for you. I've been with them four years and never made a claim.
Guess who's voting with her feetOrganised people are just too lazy to look for things

I went with Norwich Union (RAC) this year as it was teh cheapest compared with Britannia who I bene with since 2000. It was £40 cheaper, but I suspect this was a one time offer for new customers.
No longer a user, goodbye folks. PLEASE delete my account. Thank you0 -
Just let your current membership expire and rejoin as a new member, works with the AA - there's no benefit of keeping existing membership.
Also works with Churchill car insurance, renewal quote was £50 more than new customer quote - Churchill wouldn't adjust the renewal price but it was OK to not renew and join again at lower price - as terms and conditions for Churchill car insurance did not exclude exesting customers.0
