Advice from a plasterer and/or electrician please!

Planning to change some hideous light fittings on my living room ceiling but also need to get the ceilings skimmed due to some delightful 80s fan decoration! What should I do first? Will light fittings have to come off for skimming anyway? Thanks

First fix the electrics, plaster, second fix electrics.
Two visits for the electrician unless it's a straight swap of the fitting and an electrician possibly isn't required anyway. If you're not confident then the above would still apply but without much 'fix', more remove and replaceEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
