Jamie at Home with his 'flavour shaker'

Options
I'm watching this right now and I only just flicked over and haven;t seen too much of the other programmes in this series but every single time I do actually see it - he's using his 'flavour shaker' thingy.
Product placement? mmmm.......

Yup. By all accounts on here it's a load of carp.

  • As the very guy that sent loads of peeps rushing out to buy a mortar and pestle I find it very ironic that he's involved with this hopeless product that won't do anywhere near the same job of smashing ingredients up.

But then then he drives a Bentley and I ride a push bike.

Jamie Oliver gets on my nerves full stop! Sadly I just have to watch this programme just so I can shout at the telly.

So now he knows all about gardening too?
My second favorite household chore is ironing. My first being, hitting my head on the top bunk bed until I faint.

Glad this has annoyed others as it's been getting to me since the first programme! Any normal cook would use a pestle and mortar, and he always has done in the past. As regards 'does it work?', just think of the small space the grinding ball has to move around in. It's not going to do much in that powered by a shaking hand is it! If you watch him shaking the thing he puts all his vigour into it (I'm sure they don't edit it to reduce the apparant shaking time now do they!)

Apart from that he's a luvly boy and his progs are just great!!
  • He tore up the chillis before he put them in the shaker and when he poured it out they looked the same and the garlic hadn't gone to a pulp like he said it would.

I wish they'd pull back with the camera. I want to see what he's doing not look at his face in close up.

He doesn't develop the products that have his name on, it's all done by a marketing company. The sum total of his involvement is to have his picture taken for the advertising and to cash a fat cheque. I have it on authority that he's a **** to work for and anyone caught using the word "pukka" in his hearing gets the sack :rotfl:

His first TV show was a con too - he was supposedly living in this trendy mews flat which seemed to consist entirely of a ginormous kitchen, but it was actually a set (or at least it wasn't his actual home).

Enjoy the recipes if you like Jamie's style, but take the rest with a pinch of organic Maldon salt ;)
